Doris Wilbur is an author living in rural New York State who writes about historical events as well as stories inspired by modern day headlines. The settings and events in her stories are infused with nature, including the plants, animals and landscapes of the areas, and give you a vivid sense of place. Her characters face many challenges both natural and man-made. She creates a captivating story as they cope with feelings, choices and events to overcome those challenges.

Doris spent much of her career as a graphic artist and award-winning watercolor artist. She was a public-school art teacher also, but behind the scenes she always wrote. She has worked for newspapers, advertising agencies, school systems, and had a graphic design business.

She and her husband Jerry raised five children and have lived in New York State, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida. She grew up on a small dairy farm but has also lived and worked in the large cities of Washington, DC; Orlando, Florida and Syracuse, NY.

She graduated summa cum laude from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where she studied Creative Writing, Botany and Art Education. Now, she and her husband live at a private lake surrounded by the woods and nature that she loves where she continues to teach and write.

Doris has another book, A Lenape Legacy, published by Sunbury Press. It’s the story of a young colonial girl who was captured by the Indians and then raised and chose to marry into their culture.
